Our mission is to promote the benefits of a meat-based diet as a counter to the anti-meat rhetoric that’s pushing modern humans in the wrong direction. We gain ground by introducing more people to this results-driven way of life.
🥩 Hello Meatlings,
If you read our last newsletter, we dug into the conflicts of interest (COI) of the USDA MyPlate recommendations.
Today we dig into the troubled landscape of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the EAT-Lancet Commission.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
This influential group shapes US food policy and steers consumers to nutritional products. The Academy has an independent voice and is a “trusted educational resource for consumers.” Though the Academy has long received criticism for its ties to big food (having fast food companies sponsor CEUs and conferences), the study reveals the depth of its financial ties. Internal documents were uncovered in 2022 that:
From 2011-2017, it has accepted over $15m from corporate and organizational contributors and over $4.5m in additional funding that went to the Academy's foundation.
It has financial ties to the world's largest processed food companies and has been controlled by former industry employees working for companies like Monsanto. Among the contributions came from companies like Nestle, PepsiCo, Hershey, Kellogg's, General Mills, Conagra, National Dairy Council, and Abbott Nutrition (baby formula).
The documents reveal that the AND has a record of quid pro quo with a range of food giants, owns stock in ultra-processed food companies, and has received millions in contributions from producers of pop, candy, and other processed foods linked to diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
It lobbies Congress and represents and provides information to over 110,000 US dieticians who help people decide which foods to eat.
EAT-Lancet Commission
For those who don’t know, EAT gathered 37 of the planet’s foremost experts “who, for the first time, propose scientific targets for what constitutes both a healthy diet and a sustainable food system.” The result was the EAT-Lancet Commission on Food, Planet, Health, first launched in Oslo on January 17, 2019. This sounds like fantastic news! Buuuuut it’s not.
Nina Teicholz, author and the founder of the Nutrition Coalition, did an excellent deep dive into the problems with this group’s findings. She writes: “An examination of the EAT-Lancet authors reveals that more than 76% of them (28 out of 37) espoused vegetarian views before joining the EAT-Lancet project.
This was a highly biased group, and the outcome of their report was, therefore, inevitably a foregone conclusion. Convening a one-sided group on a topic cannot be expected to produce a balanced outcome. It would be like pretending to negotiate an agreement in Congress with only one party at the table. Like-minded people talking to themselves is not a scientific debate, and the product of these inbred conversations cannot be considered a scientific product.”
She further dives into how the majority of the members in the group advocated for vegetarian diets before participating in EAT-Lancet.
We can all agree on what she summarizes here: “There is an enormous amount of legitimate scientific dispute surrounding whether a plant-based diet is best for health and also whether minimizing red meat in the diet is healthy or even safe.
The best, most rigorous (clinical trial) evidence supports the idea that red meat does not cause disease. Several analyses also show that diets low in animal foods are nutritionally deficient, thereby increasing the risk of many diseases and interfering with normal growth and brain development in children.”

⏰ Intermittent Fasting Strategy Offers Alzheimer's Hope. A new study reveals a potential remedy: time-restricted feeding. “For many years, we assumed that the circadian disruptions seen in people with Alzheimer’s are a result of neurodegeneration, but we’re now learning it may be the other way around—circadian disruption may be one of the main drivers of Alzheimer’s pathology.”
🧀 Here's Why Some People Always Seem To Be Hungry: Researchers found that this may be caused by sudden and significant drops in blood sugar levels. This is why low-carbohydrate, animal-based eating is so filling.

🐂 Beef Facts (Just a reminder of how awesome it is)
Nutrient-Dense Food: Beef is a rich source of essential nutrients like protein, iron, zinc, and B vitamins. These nutrients are vital for muscle growth, energy production, and immune function. Nutritional Composition of Meat
Grass-fed vs. Grain-fed: The nutrient profile can differ based on the cow's diet. Grass-fed beef tends to be higher in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Grass-fed Beef Health Benefits
Aging Process: Dry-aged beef is often considered superior in flavor and tenderness. The aging process allows enzymes to break down the meat's fibers. Dry Aging of Beef
Economic Importance: Beef is one of the most economically valuable meats globally, generating billions in revenue and providing jobs. Research: Economic Value of Beef
Cooking Techniques: The Maillard Reaction is responsible for cooked beef's brown crust and flavor. It starts around 300°F (150°C), transforming amino acids and reducing sugars. Maillard Reaction
Regional Variations: Beef consumption and preparation vary significantly by culture. For example, beef is highly prized in American BBQ but is not commonly consumed in some Hindu-majority countries due to religious beliefs. Cultural Variations in Beef Consumption
Steak Cuts: Different cuts of beef have varying fat content, tenderness, and flavor. For example, filet mignon is lean and tender, while ribeye is fattier and more flavorful. Characteristics of Beef Cuts
🎤 Free Speech is the foundation of freedom
The vegans lie to the public by saying that their diet is more ethical, natural, or healthy.
We know, as true meatheads, that each of these is false.
The answer to wrong or false speech is MORE SPEECH. It's not censorship, which is the bootloader for tyranny.
So let people say whatever dumb sh*t they want to say. That's the oil that keeps the gears of freedom humming.

🌵 View the first film in the Kiss the Ground mini-docuseries, Stories of Regeneration, which explores the empowering story of regenerative southwest wheat farmer Yadi Wang, as he fulfills the seemingly impossible mission of transforming a once-degraded cotton farm into the first large-scale, thriving regenerative landscape in one of the hottest and driest climates in the country, Arizona.
📣 Yadi's story has the potential to inspire farmers, corporations, and individuals around the country to believe that regeneration IS possible and within reach, even in the most treacherous or dry of conditions. As a country, we need to be awakened to the ways that regeneration can alleviate and potentially solve our climate, water, and health crisis.
🔻 All you can do
They are debasing the dollar daily. That means every dollar you own and earn is worth less.
A few ideas for protecting yourself: Own Bitcoin. Own productive businesses. Have income-producing skills. Have your passports. Maybe own some real estate. Consider homesteading. Learn how to grow your own food. Start a side hustle. Stock your freezer with grass-fed beef.
You cannot ignore what the state, politicians, banksters, and other nefarious actors who profit from the dollar's destruction are doing. If you do, you will suffer the most when the inevitable bill comes due. It's coming—it's only a matter of when.
You cannot live in a modern world and stick your head in the sand.

Wu wei means don’t force
You can’t force people, relationships, or round pegs into square holes.
So don’t try.
Instead, surf.
Pivot, adjust, stay vigilant on top of the board, and ride the waves that come to you.
People come and go. They will be with you for months or years, then one day wake up and decide you did something wrong and think they need change.
And usually, they give no warning. They keep it to themselves. They are too scared to speak their mind, use their words, and ask for what they need.
That’s the world we live in.
We aren’t going to change it, so we shouldn’t try to. We shouldn’t fight it or be upset about it.
Just accept it. And catch another wave.
