Our mission is to promote the benefits of a meat-based diet as a counter to the anti-meat rhetoric that’s pushing modern humans in the wrong direction. We gain ground by introducing more people to this results-driven way of life.
🥩 Hello Meatlings,
When asked what is in meat, I suspect the first things that come to mind are: protein, saturated fat, and iron.
Of course, meat offers many micronutrients, with organ meats being very dense sources and seafood providing higher levels of omega-3s.
What’s fascinating is that we’re still discovering what's in meat and how it affects the human body. For instance, meat provides bioactive peptides and recently discovered antioxidants!
Meat contains peptide derivatives of proteins, another group of functional compounds with protective activities.
“When evaluating the quality of a protein, in addition to the composition of amino acids, it is also essential to consider their ability to generate specific bioactive peptides during digestion. Bioactive peptides are sequences of 2–30 amino acids that positively affect the consumer's health and play an important role, especially in preventing diseases associated with metabolic syndrome and mental illness. Meat contains different proteins and peptides with important physiological activities.”
“It has been shown, for example, that peptides derived from collagen have a positive effect on bone functionality, but in general, the beneficial health effects of the peptides from meat include antihypertensive, antioxidant, antithrombotic, modulation of the immune response, and antimicrobial activity. Bioactive peptides are considered to be very important in preventing metabolic syndrome and maintaining mental health.” Source
Woah! It’s almost like our bodies were made to eat meat. 😏

📰 News & 🔬 Research
👩🏾🔬 Animal vs Plant Protein Foods: examining the essential amino acid bioavailability in young and older adults. Study result: The same ounce equivalent portions of animal and plant-based protein foods do not provide equivalent Essential Amino Acid content and postprandial bioavailability for protein anabolism in young and older adults. Long story short: Animal protein sources are superior for humans.
🪨 An eight-week study showed that magnesium oxide at 250g/day can improve your insulin resistance in PCOS.
💪🏻 Muscle matters: Because of its mass and metabolic rate, muscle consumes the most glucose from our blood. This means that if we have more muscle mass, we have a much easier time controlling our glucose levels. This, in turn, results in significantly greater insulin sensitivity.

Navigating Seed Oils from Seed Oil Scout: Which national chains really use beef tallow?
Buffalo Wild Wings was sued by a vegan for using beef tallow. They use tallow for their deep frying at every location except for ghost kitchens and a few franchised locations across the country. See this reddit thread with responses from current and former employees. Only two sauces are safe, though, check the app.
Outback Steakhouse informed us that beef tallow is used in the fryers, and that’s the word on the street. However, nearly everything else at the restaurant contains seed oils, so be careful and negotiate with the server. We’re also not sure that fries aren’t pre-blanched in seed oils.
Popeyes: This one is a bit tricky. Most locations seem to fry in this tallow, however, many of the menu items contain soybean oil: list. The biscuits appear to only contain palm oil. I wouldn’t swear by any of this, so please verify on site.
Krispy Kreme & Dunkin fry in palm oil. It appears all the donuts at Dunkin contain some kind of soybean oil in the dough, though (ingredients). We haven’t vetted KK’s ingredients otherwise.
These chains all rely heavily on ultra-processed foods, we do not endorse the above establishments.
Don’t a lot of places blend seed oils with beef tallow and call it tallow?
Yes! Here is a list of some of the worst national and regional offenders. Stolen-tallow-valor is one of the highest crimes by our rule book, truly despicable behavior.
Smashburger uses a canola blend.
Salt & Time, Austin is a fraud? yikes
Harlem Shake, NYC, is a nonsense blend.
Lord’s NYC does a double fry, one with seed oils.

🔫 Watching your steak die: An earnest community of small-production ranchers and butchers in the Pacific Northwest raises cows, loves those cows, and then kills them “as quickly as possible.” I witnessed a slaughter to understand why this practice, as they believe, is the most ethical way to eat meat.

🥩 The Power of Ancestral Eating - Moms
This is how humans can look when they eat a species-appropriate diet → They have naturally arrived at optimal body composition and excellent metabolic health
They eat tons of red meat and get most of their calories from animal protein and fat.
Most people I know who eat enough animal foods and avoid processed foods arrive at their ideal body composition. It’s not always quick, and it takes diligence and usually resistance training and exercise, but know that it’s possible!

🤝 CEO Corner
Colin on advice, feedback, and musings.
We look to our past to understand what to eat.
So shouldn’t we do the same for how we live?
This ‘Ancestral Mindset’ is about looking at humans then and today and drawing ideas for what to test in the modern world.
Then experiment and build a life that works for you.
One example of the modern world is the need to go against your innate primal desire to fit in, belong, play nice, and be obsessed with what others think about you.
That’s because your ancestors were obsessed because they knew falling out of favor with the tribe could get you killed and reduce your chances of reproducing.
Today, to be successful, you have to do the opposite. You must live for yourself first and do what you are called to do. This means letting go of some people and bringing in others. It’s your most significant opportunity. We have to be able to create a life entirely for ourselves rather than fitting ourselves into the box that others have set for us.
Social risks are the most significant hurdle for modern humans today. That comes from building a successful life, even a healthy one.
The masses look to others for medical, nutritional, and way-of-life cues. So they follow normal and end up sick like everyone else.
To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
