If you didn't notice, I had a lonnng break, enjoyed the busy summer with my family, and am ready to get back into writing more consistently. The last article discussed the problem with the reduced meat offerings at the Olympics due to their 'climate-friendly' initiative, which backfired big time! Elite athletes need meat for recovery and performance. To combat this problem, some teams flew in their chefs to address the issue; Team USA shipped in 8,000 bottles of high-protein milkshakes for their athletes, and Olympic games organizers wilted to pressure from athletes and ordered more than 700kg of eggs and a ton of extra meat to replace fake meat meals and non-dairy options.
In other news, Kiss the Ground has been busy making fun and short informative videos! First, we must know why we don't need fancy and expensive technology to save our climate. We need dirt. (Well, soil.) And a second video about how grazing animals can help attract rain clouds with their 💩.
Seed Oil Scout released a hilarious new video that is worth a watch or two! In their words, "Sometimes the only way to share the depth of your despair is to put in a song… At SOS HQ, we rolled up our sleeves, dusted off the guitar, and laid down the honky-tonk hit of the summer, quickly gaining over 2M listens across multiple social posts and reposts."
Lastly, I recently created this presentation connecting food to energy levels, as this is the most common complaint I hear from adults. This presentation is targeted for those not only want to lose weight but who also need blood sugar control (have pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes).

🐝 Immunity, from bees: We’re rolling into sickness season; what are you doing to protect yourself? 🤓 Type 2 Diabetes should be treated like a food allergy to carbohydrates. Yes, I said it. Chronically elevated high blood sugar (T2D) is caused by too many carbohydrates for a person’s body to metabolize or store healthily. Just like we wouldn’t give some with a peanut allergy peanuts, we shouldn’t be promoting a high carbohydrate diet to a large population of people who have carbohydrate intolerances (such as Pre-diabetes) or a carbohydrate allergy (Type 2 Diabetes).
🐮 Scientists are trying to re-engineer cows' stomachs. Why? To eliminate the animal's methane emissions. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, and cows burp up a lot of it — contributing to about 4% of global warming. What's the plan? To genetically engineer the microbes in cows' stomachs. Scientists in California want to create a probiotic pill that could transform a cow's microbiome from birth.
🍭👶 Nearly 60% of baby foods in the U.S. don't meet nutritional guidelines, study says. Researchers tested 651 products in 2023 across eight food retailers and found that hundreds of products failed to reach adequate recommendations for macronutrients like protein and calories but exceeded the recommended sugar content. “Time-poor parents are increasingly choosing convenience foods, unaware that many of these products lack key nutrients needed for their child’s development and tricked into believing they are healthier than they really are.”
