Our mission is to promote the benefits of animal-based eating and fight back against anti-meat rhetoric. We make the world a better place by introducing an animal-based diet to as many people as possible.
🥩 Hello Meatlings,
There’s been yet another study correlating red meat to…..Type 2 Diabetes?
Unsurprisingly, it’s from meat-hating Harvard and their reliance on epidemiological (lowest quality) studies.🙄
The scientific purpose of epidemiological/observational studies is to determine correlations so you can then perform randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials to get closer to causation. In other words, the former helps develop a hypothesis, while the latter tests that hypothesis to get to the truth.
In America, it is well known that people who eat the most meat also tend to disregard most healthy living advice. They tend to smoke, eat junk food and fast food, exercise less, etc., because we Americans have been brainwashed by USDA MyPlate, the American Heart Association, and the medical establishment that red meat is rotten for us.
You do not see this happening in countries where meat is celebrated, like in Hong Kong or Icelandic groups and even in Blue Zones (which we covered here). Thus, those eating less red meat in the US are healthier, which is the healthy user bias. You can see that outlined here:
It’s critical to note that virtually all studies used to determine red meat are flawed are epidemiological studies. So, how do the researchers ascertain red meat is rotten? Highly inaccurate food questionnaires with tons of confounding variables. Ironically, even questionnaires that ask you what you ate yesterday (24-hour recall) often have under-reporting. You can even try this: what is everything you ate and drank yesterday, and how much? When variables aren’t strictly controlled, it’s hard to get accurate information.
This latest study is also just doing bad science. It didn’t even bother separating meat from other food groups eaten:
But of course, this is what the headlines say:
Though, this is what it should say:
It’s also crucial to know who funded the study. Unfortunately, most studies conducted often have industry bias (1,2) and this one certainly does:
However, when Harvard looks at a specific dietary intervention, what do they find? Well, they did one with the carnivore diet! And it had excellent results, including reversal of diabetes!

👩🏻⚕️ Someone You Need to Know About
Dr. Gabrielle Lyon is a muscle-centric physician with a fellowship in gerontology. She saw firsthand what happens when we allow ourselves to become frail as we age. She also validly points out that we should stop focusing on (losing) fat instead of optimizing muscle mass since muscle is the primary driver of vitality and longevity.
Her new book Forever Strong: A New, Science-Based Strategy for Aging Well, focuses on how low muscle mass is the primary driver of the obesity epidemic.
Building muscle is our secret weapon against insulin resistance and many other preventable diseases. Muscle is a critical “metabolic sink.”
When we don’t have enough of it, it’s harder to metabolize carbohydrates and fat and lose weight properly. It’s also harder to maintain health as we age because sarcopenia (loss of muscle) is one of the primary drivers of age-related frailty and early death. Dr. Lyon argues that most people are low in muscle mass because they don’t eat enough protein, and a higher protein intake is critical for weight loss.
This book has many positive reviews that appreciate her practical tips. You don’t want to miss this book!

🧬 Being a vegetarian might be in your DNA. The study published in PLOS One found four genes associated with how well someone can adhere to a vegetarian lifestyle. “A large proportion of self-described vegetarians report consuming meat products when responding to detailed questionnaires,” he said. “This suggests that many people who would like to be vegetarian are unable to do so, and our data suggest that genetics is at least part of the reason.” The most significant unsaid point is that our genes need meat no matter what and override willpower.

🌱 Scientists learned more about how plants warn each other of danger. Injured plants emit certain chemical compounds that can infiltrate a healthy plant’s inner tissues to activate defenses from within its cells, according to a new study. A better understanding of this mechanism could help humans “immunize” plants, teaching them how to resist drought or pests while using fewer pesticides.
📉 Type 2 diabetes diagnosis at 30 reduces life expectancy by 14 years (!) A new analysis of data from 19 countries found that a type 2 diabetes (T2D) diagnosis at age 30 reduces life expectancy by 14 years. This is a huge concern because more than half a billion people worldwide now have T2D, and the average age of diagnosis is dropping each year.
📊 Ten companies own thousands of products. When you visit your nearest Walmart, Kroger, or Whole Foods, there are thousands of ‘food’ products, and what seems like an unlimited variety of flavors, textures, and brands is a facade. These companies care about profit, not our health, as you can recognize that most of these brands are ultra-processed food items.

Here is the bold and brave story of a curious farmer named TJ Schiff and his daughter Caroline beginning their mission to test regenerative agriculture on his commercial farm the size of Los Angeles. The film is the latest installment in the mini-docuseries, Stories of Regeneration, which highlights the compelling stories of influential figures in the regenerative movement and the obstacles they face.
TJ and Caroline's story is unique as it's not often that a farm this size is discussed in the regenerative space. Farms like TJ's cover the majority of food production in our country making it quite possible that at some point in your life, you or your pet have eaten grains from TJ's farm. If we can inspire more mass-producing farms around the country to test and implement regenerative practices, we will see improvement in the state of our health, water, and climate.
Follow TJ and Caroline as they build a test plot to test regenerative practices on their multigenerational farm. They begin their journey to reshape the landscape, implementing innovative row-spacing and cover crops, and openly inviting their community to witness and engage in their progress.

The Kiss, the Ground team, has been hard at work on the Hill advocating for greater support for soil health and regenerative agriculture in the farm bill. Now, they’re excited to share that not 1, not 2, but 3 of their key bills have officially been introduced!
The Soil Conservation and Regeneration Education (Soil CARE) Act, the Peer Learning for Agriculture Conservation Education (PLACE) Act, and the Streamlining Conservation Practice Standards Act are cornerstones of the Regenerate America policy platform. Together, they would help ensure farmers and ranchers have better access to the training, education, and resources needed to transition toward regeneration successfully.
We need to get these bills into the next farm bill, and we need your help - take 2 minutes to visit the Regenerate America Action Center today and let your representatives know that the future of farming and the farm bill must be regenerative!
